When should I schedule my maternity photoshoot? The sweet spot is between 32 and 36 weeks when your belly has that gorgeous, round shape but you’re still feeling comfy enough to enjoy the shoot. It’s the perfect moment to capture all that glow before your little one arrives.
Who can join the fun? A standard Maternity session is perfect for up to 4 people, but if your crew is bigger or you’re bringing along the grandies, let’s chat about how many people ahead of time so we can make it work. And yes, fur babies are 100% welcome, they’re part of the family, too!
When and where are Maternity sessions held? Outdoor sessions happen at the magical golden hour; that dreamy time just before sunset, when the light is soft and has a beautiful glow. If little ones can’t wait that long, no problem, we can find a beautifully shaded spot or adjust the timing to fit your family’s vibe. The best shoots happen in places that mean something to you: favourite holiday spot, your backyard, the local park or neighbourhood. But if you don’t have a go-to spot, I’ve got plenty of ideas to help us find the perfect backdrop for your story.
Do you travel outside of Hawke’s Bay for sessions? Of course! I’m more than happy to travel beyond Hawke’s Bay to capture your special moments. Travel within New Zealand is included with my top wedding collection, so no surprise extra costs. If you’re planning a destination wedding or shoot, I’d love to be part of it, so let’s chat.
What should we wear? Whether it’s your first little one or your second (or third or fourth!), I want you to be the star of the show. I recommend choosing something that really highlights you as the centrepiece. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and pastels are perfect, especially if you’re having your shoot in nature. And the best part, I have a selection of stunning dresses available for you to borrow during your maternity or newborn session, completely free of charge. Together, we’ll make sure you look and feel fabulous.
What is included in a newborn session? Newborn sessions are pure magic! Not only will you get to capture those tiny toes, fingers, and adorable grins, but you'll also get to have some sweet moments together as parents in the photos. Sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. I’ll bring everything we need: props, outfits for both mum and baby so all you need to do is relax and enjoy. In 60-90 minutes, we’ll create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
When is the best time for a newborn photoshoot? The first 7-10 days are ideal. Babies are still all curled up and extra sleepy so we can capture those super adorable, peaceful moments. It's when they’re still tiny and full of those precious, newborn features, making it the perfect window for those dreamy, timeless photos. Trust me, you’ll want to capture these early days while they’re still so small and snuggly.
What happens if my baby is unsettled during the session? That’s totally normal. I’m all about keeping your little one comfortable so we’ll go with the flow. If baby needs a break for feeding, changing, or a cuddle we’ll take our time. I’ll make sure we capture those sweet moments when everyone is calm and content. If it doesn’t quite work out that day, I offer one reschedule and will happily come back when baby is feeling more settled.
